So, many of you know about the YouTuber Sam Pepper. The guy is a total creep no matter how cute you think he is. I know, I know...this isn't the first YouTuber this year to get in trouble for sexual harassment/ rape. I mean, look at the other famous YouTuber Veeoneeye for example. (I might make a blog post about him later)
(Veeoneeye shown to the left).
What I want to talk about today is YouTubers and their mindset of thinking they can take advantage of fans when it is wrong. According to http://www.buzzfeed.com/ryanhatesthis/18-year-old-woman-tells-police-she-was-raped-by-youtube-cele "Last week, Pepper, a 25-year-old former U.K. Big Brother contestant, set off an internet firestorm with a prank video that featured him groping and pinching women on the street. Pepper said the video was a “social experiment” to raise awareness of male victims of sexual assault and that the women were in on the stunt."
This may sound like a "social experiment," but believe me it wasn't. The problem these days is that fans, they idolize these people. They look up to them for humor when they are down and watch their videos when bored. The YouTubers are not only just now starting to take advantage of that, but have been for a long, long time. The fans do not want to disappoint their idols of course, so when they befriend them they don't really think about anything other than the fact that this person is actually talking to them. The YouTuber then does everything in their power to take advantage of that.
I guess what I am trying to say is that...these people are looked up to as being hero's when they do these very, very bad things. And, there are probably more than a couple names you would like to call Sam Pepper. I mean its obvious that he is just plain stupid. Anyways watch this video and tell me what you think. Thanks.
